Deputy Director of Overseas Chinese Affairs Office visits Xinhua News Agency in London 中國國僑辦副主任新春訪華社

Mr. Tan Tianxing, Deputy Director of Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of the State Council of China, visited London Chinese Community Center (CCC) on 18 February 2018 and held a talk themed “New Era, New Chinese Community” with more than 30 overseas Chinese representatives from various cultural organizations and business groups.
During the talk, issues such as Chinese community’s political engagement, Chinese education and the shortage of resources in Chinese community centers were discussed.

Mrs. Xuelin Li, President of the Zhejiang UK Association, Mrs. Christine Lee, Chair of the British Chinese Project, Mr. Thomas Chan, Deputy Lieutenant for Greater London, and Dr. Xiaojiu Zhu, President of the UK Society of Chinese Lawyers, all called on Chinese community to exercise vote right to ensure that voices are heard instead of being a silent group.

Mrs. Sherry Kuei-Chan, President of the UK Research and Development Centre for Chinese Traditional Culture, and Mrs. Tingting Dong, Manager of the London Chinese Community Center, put forward issues including the health of overseas Chinese and the shortage of resources in Chinese community centers.

Mr. Tan Tianxing expects overseas Chinese community to have more solidarity and vitality and gain better image and higher status.

Mr. Fei Mingxing, Minister Counsellor and Consul General of the Embassy of China, hosted the talk. Mr. Lu Haitian, Counsellor of the Embassy of China, and Mr. Zhang Yi and Mr. Liu Jingshi from Overseas Chinese Affairs Office attended the talk as well.

Before the talk, Mr. Tan Tianxing extended Spring Festival greetings to CCC members and wished them a long life full of health and happiness.
