Chinese Painting

Sanly has been studying and practicing Chinese Calligraphy for many years. Sanly, often takes part in ‘International Chinese Calligraphy exhibitions’ and has been awarded honorary certificates. She enjoys demonstrating “Running Script” an evolution of Chinese characters and hopes through the sharing of her experiences is able to help more people understand and appreciate Chinese Calligraphy.

Sunday Chinese Painting Class (via Zoom)

**The Chinese Painting Class is taught by an experienced Chinese painting teacher, with the aim to promote Chinese traditional culture and art.**   Suitable for Beginner Level

Teacher: Mr Marco Liang

Marco is a multi award artist and one of the descendants of Liang’s Garden (Guangdong).  He was taught by his father and started learning painting and calligraphy at a very young age.  Marco was also a student of other famous Chinese painters like Yun Tang, Li Xiongcai and Xie Zhiliu.  Marco currently teaches Chinese painting and calligraphy in Cardiff with the aim of promoting Chinese culture.

Saturday Chinese Guzheng Class

Ms Julie Zhu is not only an excellent performer; she also has taught hundreds of students worldwide.  She organises Guzheng examinations and exchange programmes in the UK every year with the Guzheng Association in China.  Mentoring her students,  Julie also provides opportunities for them to perform at events, especially in Trafalgar Square for Chinese New Year celebrations.  

Guzheng has become one of the most popular instruments to learn globally , Ms Zhu has been teaching students from SOAS and Birmingham University on Guzheng as their second major in music courses.  Julie has released more than 10 albums worldwide including traditional Guzheng pieces, Chinese pop, and western folk. With her tremendous contribution and her achievements for promoting Chinese music in the UK,  she was nominated for the “Unsung Heroes Award” by the Camden Mayor in 2011.

Monday Taichi

Teachers: Mrs Jenny & Mr Simon Wong

Jenny and Simon have been learning TaiChi for over 20 years, and have won a number of competitions in Hong Kong and the UK. They have performed at prestigious venues on significant dates of the Chinese Calendar, for example; Chinese New Year, the Moon Festival etc… They have also carried out many voluntary performances.  Their main objective is to promote this wonderful martial art to anyone who is interested in Chinese culture.

Price: £40 for 10 lessons

Teacher: Mrs Shu Chen Warner

Mrs Warner has over 10 years of teaching experience, creating and delivering engaging language lessons to multiple age ranges, including primary through to key stage 5. Shu Chen uses innovative and varied teaching techniques to optimise knowledge retention and student engagement. Teaching at the Chelsea Independent College for 8 years, having also taught at other private schools Box Hill and Alleyn's school. In addition she works as an oral Examiner and Exam invigilator as well as supporting clients as a translator and face to face interpreter.
